Map of northern Korea, ca. 1720, with names of cities or domains and other geographical features, possibly a tax map, on Kozo paper; French map of the Chinese empire, Korea, and Japan, by M. Bonne, n.d.; large map of Japan by Kawakami Kan, 1871. Two-volume "Miscellaneous Maps, Charts, and Plans of China," collected by Charles W. Wason. Volume 1 has 39 maps, including world maps, maps of China and its provinces and cities, Korea, Japan, Cochin, Macao, and Formosa. Volume 2 (42 maps) includes maps of Chinese provinces, and Tibet. Map of The Kingdom of China newly augmented by I.S. 1626.

Wason, Charles William, 1854-1918

Electrical engineer. Charles W. Wason studied mechanical engineering at Cornell University from 1872-1876 and was involved in the Cornell Boat Club and Navy. After leaving Cornell in 1876 he became an electrical engineer and later became prominent in the railroad industry.
